Innovation Discussed: Setting the stage for 2025

Setting the Stage for a Transformative 2025

As we embark on a new year, we also embark on an upgrade to our Innovation Discuss podcast, with a renewed commitment to exploring the fascinating world of materials science. In this first episode of 2025, we're not just looking back at the holiday break, but also setting the stage for a year of exploration and engagement within the scientific community. We're increasing our podcast to two episodes per month so we can delve more deeply into the exciting world of advanced materials. Make sure you subscribe on your favourite podcast platform so you can join us as we delve deeper into the science that is shaping the future.

We kick off 2025 with a look at our plans for the year, including participation in key industry events such as the Advanced Materials Show, where we will also be recording another live podcast episode. These events are not just opportunities for networking; they are crucibles for innovation and collaboration. And we're excited to grow our engagement with the academic community, with planned visits to universities and science parks, and we'll be talking about a special career pathway event at Cambridge University for postdoctoral researchers in materials science. These engagements are critical for fostering the next generation of material scientists, providing insights into the diverse opportunities that lie beyond academia.

Reflecting on Goodfellow's origins as a supplier of small quantities of metals to universities like Oxford and Cambridge, we are always committed to supporting research and innovation. Our specialist product range, or product catalog, continues to be a cornerstone of this commitment, offering a vast array of materials, from raw to custom-made, readily available for purchase. This range includes high-purity materials, essential in optical coatings and telescopes, and a wide variety of composites, which are finding increasing applications in aerospace, automotive and many other industries. Our new product finder on our website is designed to make it easier than ever to access the materials researchers need, and we are continuously improving our search function with the help of AI.

The first podcast episode also features some of the key innovations that occurred in the month of January including Edwin Hubble's discovery of galaxies beyond the Milky Way, a truly groundbreaking moment that highlights the importance of innovative research and discovery.

As we look forward, we are excited to explore specific materials in-depth, delving into their applications and showcasing the work of our customers. We are also eager to hear from the researchers and innovators who are using our materials, to share their challenges and innovations, and to feature their stories on our platform. We have a large range of products, including high-purity aluminum and a range of composites, with various forms of all of these materials available. Let us know how you're using our products or ask questions for the podcast team by emailing us at marketing@goodfellow.com or via our social media channels, as we collectively push the boundaries of what is possible in material science. This year is all about delving deeper into the specific applications of our materials, and helping our customers to advance their research and development.
