The Job:

We’re looking for a highly technical and detail-oriented Technical Writer to help improve and expand the content across our product catalogue and website. This is a junior-level role ideal for a true materials science enthusiast - someone who can translate complex material properties and applications into clear, engaging, and SEO-friendly content. You’ll also engage with online technical communities, contributing to discussions and driving awareness of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write and refine technical content for our website, including news and blog content, white papers and case studies, product descriptions and application guides
  • Optimize content for SEO to improve search rankings and visibility
  • Research and write authoritative content: eg explaining how materials might help industries perform critical tests
  • Engage in online technical communities (Reddit, LinkedIn Groups, etc.), contributing expertise and fostering discussions
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product managers to ensure accuracy in all published content
  • Stay up to date with industry trends to create relevant, high-impact content
  • Support the Marketing Communications Manager by attending exhibitions, trade shows, and events on behalf of Goodfellow
  • Manage social media content from events and engage with attendees and customers
  • Be available to discuss materials with customers at events
  • Support the Marketing Team in wider marketing activities

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Materials Science
  • 1-2 years of writing experience, preferably in a technical or scientific setting (can include academic or personal projects)
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
  • Understanding of SEO principles and best practices for technical content
  • Passion for engaging with online technical communities
  • A deep love for all things science and storytelling

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of adjacent scientific fields such as chemistry or engineering

Salary:

Basic salary, dependent on experience.
Plus: Company Healthcare, Company pension (5% company contribution), Company Sick Pay, Critical Illness cover and Life Assurance cover, 22 days Annual Leave, rising to 25. Plus a range of employee benefits provided through our insurances provider. Details will be provided.
