Kapton® MT is DuPont's thermally conductive polyimide film, engineered for electronic and automotive thermal management applications where heat must be conducted away from power devices while maintaining electrical isolation between them. Its homogeneous filler loading delivers a thermal conductivity of 0.46 W/m·K — three times that of standard Kapton® HN — while preserving the polyimide's core dielectric and mechanical performance: dielectric strength up to 216 kV/mm at 25 µm, volume resistivity exceeding 10¹⁶ Ω·cm, UL 94 V-0 flame rating, and the full −269 °C to +400 °C thermal range of the Kapton® family. Where standard polyimide films insulate but do not conduct, and ceramic pads conduct but are brittle and inflexible, Kapton® MT occupies the space between: a flexible, die-cuttable thermal interface material that can be precisely cut to component footprints, integrated into multilayer stacks, and used as a direct replacement for ceramic boards in heatsink insulation pads, heater circuits, power supplies, and motor slot liner applications. Available in four gauges from 0.025 mm to 0.075 mm, it also offers higher modulus and cut-through strength than HN — properties that improve mechanical robustness in compressed thermal interface assemblies.
