Kapton® CRC Polyimide Coil

Kapton® CRC is DuPont's corona-resistant polyimide film, developed for high-voltage electrical insulation systems where the potential for corona partial discharge is present. Standard Kapton® HN performs exceptionally as a dielectric but has limited resistance to the progressive dielectric degradation caused by sustained partial discharge at high AC voltages — the condition that occurs in inverter-fed motors, traction drives, and high-voltage generators operating above the corona inception voltage. Kapton® CRC addresses this directly: its voltage endurance under partial discharge conditions is significantly higher than that of Kapton® HN, and it additionally provides greater thermal conductivity to assist heat dissipation from the winding. Available at 0.025 mm (100CRC), it delivers a typical dielectric strength of 236 kV/mm and a UL Electrical RTI of 240 °C, while retaining the full mechanical toughness, chemical resistance, and UL 94 V-0 flame rating of the Kapton® polyimide family.
