AISI 304 Stainless Steel Tube

AISI 304 Stainless Steel Tube is a hollow austenitic stainless steel product combining the established corrosion resistance of the 18% chromium–10% nickel composition with the structural efficiency of a thin-walled tubular geometry, suitable for fluid handling, structural, and heat-transfer applications across a broad range of service environments. With a tensile strength of 500–700 MPa, a yield strength of 190–240 MPa, and an elastic modulus of 193–200 GPa, it provides reliable pressure-bearing and structural performance alongside the characteristic ductility and work-hardening behaviour of fully austenitic stainless steel. AISI 304 tube offers good resistance to general corrosion in natural, oxidising, and low-chloride media, with a continuous service temperature capability up to approximately 925 °C, and is fully weldable using GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, and other standard stainless steel welding processes. Typical applications include process piping in chemical and petrochemical plant, heat-exchanger tubing, hygienic fluid lines in food and pharmaceutical production, structural tubing in automotive and general engineering assemblies, and instrumentation and sampling lines. In research and pilot-scale environments, AISI 304 tube provides a chemically stable, pressure-capable, and dimensionally reproducible flow conduit for corrosion studies, fluid dynamics experiments, high-temperature testing, and the construction of laboratory-scale reactor and process systems.
