Nylons are a group of relatively tough engineering polymers that are only 1/7^th the weight of bronze. They can be considered as having a relatively low coefficient of friction, good abrasion resistance and in dynamic applications have reduced lubrication requirements. Unlike some metallic materials, nylons do not suffer from corrosion, have less tendency to gall and have good sound dampening characteristics.

Applications for Polyamide-Nylon 6 & 6,6 include gears, bearings, nuts, bolts, washers, rivets, wheels, in industries such as textiles, aircraft, paper processing equipment and electrical housings.
