Cerium Pellets are a form of metallic cerium offered by Goodfellow as part of their range of pellets. Cerium is a silvery-white reactive rare earth metal. It has a high melting point of 798°C and is quite malleable and ductile. Cerium pellets can be used as an alloying agent to improve high-temperature properties of steels. They also have applications as flint ignition devices for lighters, as they readily oxidize and produce sparks. Goodfellow provides high-purity cerium pellets in a variety of sizes for research and industrial uses.
