Aluminum Coil is available in purity grades from 99% to 99.999% (5N), supplied in annealed, hard, half-hard, and as-rolled tempers. The coil form offers the same combination of low density (2.70 g/cm³), thermal conductivity of 237 W/m·K, electrical resistivity of 2.67 µΩ·cm, and naturally passivating oxide layer as flat foil, while enabling continuous-feed and roll-to-roll processing in applications where sheet-form supply is impractical. At commercial purities (99–99.5%), coil is used in continuous lamination, cable wrapping, HVAC duct facing, and high-volume capacitor electrode production, where consistent strip geometry and mechanical uniformity across long lengths are the primary requirements. At 99.99%, the coil form supports roll-to-roll anodization processes for the production of anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes and nanostructured surfaces, where purity directly governs pore ordering and film quality. At 5N purity, the combination of high conductivity, controlled microstructure, and low impurity content makes the coil suitable for precision current collector fabrication in lithium-ion battery research, as well as continuous deposition substrates in thin-film processing, where batch-to-batch consistency across extended lengths is critical to reproducibility.

Key Features

Aluminum Coil is available in purity grades from 99% to 99.999% (5N), with thicknesses from 0.0045 mm to 0.5 mm, widths from 3.1 mm to 620 mm, and lengths up to 2000 m in annealed, half-hard, hard, and as-rolled tempers — delivering aluminum's material properties in a continuous-feed format:

Continuous-Feed Geometry

Supplied in lengths up to 2000 m on a single reel, aluminum coil provides uninterrupted material feed without the joins, handling steps, and batch boundaries inherent to sheet-form supply — a geometric property that directly enables roll-to-roll processing, continuous coating, and long-run electrode fabrication operations.

Tight Thickness Tolerances Maintained Across Full Length

Thickness tolerances of ±25% below 0.01 mm, ±15% from 0.01–0.05 mm, and ±10% above 0.05 mm are maintained across the full coil length — ensuring that properties dependent on gauge, such as electrical resistance per unit length and capacitor electrode area, remain consistent from the start to the end of a production or experimental run.

High Electrical & Thermal Conductivity

Electrical resistivity of 2.67 µΩ·cm at 20 °C and thermal conductivity of 237 W/m·K are maintained across all purity grades available in coil form — with conductivity improving at 5N as trace impurity scattering is reduced, relevant to current collector and precision conductor applications where resistivity uniformity along the coil length matters.

Low Density

At 2.70 g/cm³, aluminum coil offers a significant mass advantage over copper coil at equivalent gauge and conductivity — a property that is preserved across all purity grades and relevant to lightweight cable wrapping, shielding, and electrode applications where reel weight and handling are practical constraints.

Naturally Passivating Oxide Layer

The self-limiting Al₂O₃ surface layer provides corrosion resistance without surface treatment and is present uniformly across the full coil length. At 99.99% and above, the oxide layer becomes thinner and more chemically uniform — a property relevant to anodization consistency in roll-to-roll processing where surface chemistry must be stable across extended lengths.

Wide Temper Range

Available in fully annealed, half-hard, hard, and as-rolled tempers — with tensile strength from 50–90 MPa (soft) to 130–195 MPa (hard) — enabling selection of the mechanical stiffness and formability required for downstream slitting, winding, lamination, or coating operations independently of purity grade.

Industrial Applications

Aluminum Coil is used in continuous and roll-to-roll processing across energy storage research, nanofabrication, HVAC, electronics, and industrial manufacturing — where the coil format provides the length, consistency, and feed compatibility that sheet stock cannot:

✦ Continuous Lamination, Cable Wrapping & HVAC Duct Facing
Commercial-grade coil supplies the consistent strip geometry, corrosion resistance, and barrier performance required in continuous lamination lines, cable shielding wraps, and HVAC duct facing — where high-volume throughput and reliable mechanical properties across full coil lengths determine process economics and product performance.
✦ High-Volume Capacitor Electrode Production
Commercial and mid-purity coil grades provide the dimensional consistency and surface quality required for continuous capacitor electrode slitting and winding — where thickness variation across a coil directly affects capacitance uniformity across a production batch.
✦ Roll-to-Roll Anodic Aluminum Oxide (AAO) Membrane Production
99.99% coil enables continuous roll-to-roll anodization for the production of AAO membranes and nanostructured surfaces at lengths impractical with sheet stock — where purity governs pore ordering and film uniformity, and the coil format ensures that nanostructure quality is maintained without interruption across extended processing runs.
✦ Lithium-Ion Battery Current Collector Fabrication
5N coil supplies precision current collector material for lithium-ion battery research and pilot-scale fabrication — combining high conductivity, controlled microstructure, and low impurity content in a format that supports continuous electrode coating and cutting operations with the batch-to-batch reproducibility that research-grade work requires.
✦ Thin-Film Deposition Substrates
5N coil provides continuous substrate material for thin-film deposition processes where extended substrate length, consistent surface quality, and low impurity content must all be maintained across the full run — supporting research and pilot production in semiconductor, photovoltaic, and advanced coating applications.
