AISI 304 Stainless Steel Powder is an austenitic chromium–nickel stainless steel in fine powder form, combining the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the 18Cr–10Ni alloy system with the processing versatility of a free-flowing particulate feedstock. Its composition — controlled in carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulphur, chromium, nickel, and nitrogen — supports consistent sintering, compaction, and thermal processing behaviour across powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing routes. AISI 304 powder is used in the production of sintered structural components, metal injection moulded parts, thermally sprayed coatings, and laser powder bed fusion builds requiring reliable corrosion resistance and good mechanical performance in the consolidated state. Its austenitic structure provides good ductility in the sintered or printed condition and supports post-processing by machining, welding, and heat treatment where required. In materials research, AISI 304 powder is widely used to investigate sintering kinetics, densification behaviour, powder recycling strategies, and microstructure–property relationships in additively manufactured stainless steel — as well as serving as a feedstock for the development of composite materials and functional coatings in corrosive or hygienic service environments.
