Al 1200 Light-Tight Aluminum Foil is a pinhole-free variant of 1200 aluminum foil with a minimum aluminum content of 99.0%, manufactured to ensure complete optical opacity across the visible and near-infrared spectrum while retaining the mechanical durability and corrosion resistance that characterize the 1200 alloy. Electrical conductivity of ~55–57% IACS and thermal conductivity of ~205 W/m·K are maintained relative to standard 1200 foil — the light-tight manufacturing process targeting surface continuity without altering bulk composition, and the slightly higher iron and silicon content of 1200 providing greater foil strength and handling durability than equivalent 1050 or 1070 light-tight grades. The naturally passivating oxide layer provides reliable corrosion resistance, and the higher work-hardening rate of 1200 relative to purer grades gives light-tight foil produced from this alloy greater resistance to tearing and puncture during enclosure fabrication and handling.
