Al 1199 Aluminum Coil is a laboratory-grade 1xxx series aluminum coil with a minimum aluminum content of 99.99%, supplied in a continuous-feed reel format and representing the highest-purity designation within the standard 1xxx series. With electrical conductivity of ~61–62% IACS and thermal conductivity approaching 234 W/m·K, 1199 achieves the maximum conductivity available in a wrought 1xxx series product — a direct consequence of the near-total elimination of iron, silicon, and other elements from the aluminum matrix, minimizing solid-solution electron scattering to the lowest achievable level in commercial coil form. The native oxide layer is exceptionally thin and chemically uniform, supporting precise anodization control and high-quality oxide film formation in roll-to-roll processing. Al 1199 coil is used as a conductivity reference standard in electrical and thermal conductivity research, where its well-characterized purity makes it the benchmark against which alloy conductivity reductions from added elements are measured. In processing applications, it is used for precision transformer winding, high-frequency inductor stock, and capacitor electrode material where maximum conductivity and minimal resistive losses are required. Roll-to-roll anodization of 1199 coil produces anodic aluminum oxide films with exceptionally ordered pore structures due to the very low impurity density. Al 1199 is recognized in the literature as the standard high-purity reference for 1xxx series conductivity studies.

Key Features

Al 1199 Aluminum Coil is a laboratory-grade 1xxx series coil with a minimum aluminum content of 99.99% — the highest-purity designation in the standard 1xxx series — supplied in a continuous-feed reel format with the maximum conductivity available in a wrought 1xxx coil:

Maximum 1xxx Series Conductivity (~61–62% IACS, ~234 W/m·K)

Near-total elimination of Fe, Si, and other elements minimises solid-solution electron scattering to the lowest level achievable in a wrought 1xxx series coil, yielding electrical conductivity of ~61–62% IACS and thermal conductivity of ~234 W/m·K.

Exceptionally Thin & Uniform Native Oxide Layer

The near-absence of impurities produces an exceptionally thin and chemically uniform Al₂O₃ layer — enabling precise anodization control and highly ordered oxide film formation in roll-to-roll processing with minimal pore disorder from impurity nucleation sites.

Continuous-Feed Reel Format

The coil format enables uninterrupted roll-to-roll processing for precision conductor fabrication and continuous anodization at lengths impractical with sheet stock.

Very High Ductility

The near-absence of Fe- and Si-bearing second-phase particles gives 1199 exceptionally high ductility — responding well to annealing with predictable, homogeneous recrystallization behavior.

Established Conductivity Reference Standard

Al 1199 is established in the literature as the benchmark against which conductivity reductions from alloying elements are measured in the 1xxx series — its well-characterized purity making it the standard high-purity reference for conductivity studies.

Industrial Applications

Al 1199 Aluminum Coil is used in precision conductor fabrication, reference measurement, and advanced nanofabrication — where maximum 1xxx series conductivity and the cleanest available native oxide in a wrought coil format are simultaneously required:

Conductivity Reference Standard in Electrical & Thermal Research
Al 1199's well-characterized purity makes it the benchmark against which conductivity reductions from alloying elements are quantified in the 1xxx series.
Precision Transformer Winding & High-Frequency Inductor Stock
Maximum conductivity (~61–62% IACS) and minimal resistive losses make 1199 coil the highest-performance wrought 1xxx conductor stock for precision transformer winding and high-frequency inductor fabrication.
Capacitor Electrode Material
The highest-purity 1xxx series composition supports maximum capacitor electrode performance where conductivity and surface uniformity directly affect capacitance and loss characteristics.
Roll-to-Roll Anodization for Highly Ordered AAO Films
Very low impurity density produces anodic aluminum oxide films with the most ordered pore structures available from a wrought 1xxx coil — supporting advanced AAO membrane fabrication, nanowire growth templates, and photonic nanostructure production.
