Al 1050 Light-Tight Aluminum Foil is a pinhole-free variant of 1050 aluminum foil with a minimum aluminum content of 99.5%, manufactured to ensure complete optical opacity across the visible and near-infrared spectrum while retaining the conductivity, formability, and corrosion resistance of the standard 1050 alloy. Electrical conductivity of ~57–59% IACS and thermal conductivity of ~218 W/m·K are maintained relative to standard 1050 foil at equivalent gauge — the light-tight manufacturing process targeting surface continuity rather than bulk composition, and therefore not degrading the conductivity properties governed by the alloy's low solid-solution impurity content. The naturally passivating Al₂O₃ layer and high ductility are preserved across all tempers, supporting precision cutting, wrapping, and enclosure fabrication. Al 1050 light-tight foil is used in photosensitive material packaging, pharmaceutical blister barriers, and laboratory light-exclusion enclosures where pinhole-free construction prevents light-induced degradation and the mechanical properties of 1050 provide adequate barrier strength for handling and storage.
