The fields of science & engineering offer a lot of promising career opportunities, from software development to biomedical engineering & materials engineering. Materials science is a field of science that allows you to do hands-on work to research and develop the materials of tomorrow. Many things that we use every day were developed by materials scientists, and these problem-solving professionals continue to make new breakthroughs all the time. 

The periodic table is a chart that shows all of the elements, arranged by their atomic properties, which are the materials that make up everything in the world.

Materials science focuses on how different materials work & what we can do with them. Researchers in materials science develop and study a variety of materials.

Goodfellow is pleased to be a member of a consortium aimed at accelerating trustworthy AI in the materials and chemical sectors, ClearSpace develops a space junk retrieval technology that could have been inspired by a beloved arcade game, new hybrid materials boost radiation detection and imaging technologies, a new alloy and 3D printing could be the future of space exploration, a new silicon anode breakthrough could encourage people to buy EVs, and rounding the week out by smelling the roses in virtual reality.

The awards, held at Leonardo Hotel, Milton Keynes, shined a spotlight on regional manufacturing excellence across multiple sectors - including digital and technology, aerospace and aviation, and food and drink. 

As leaders in delivering innovation, we were honoured to support the event through an impactful after-dinner speech from our CEO, Simon Kenney. Simon’s speech, titled Innovation, Delivered, paid homage to the value of ideas in manufacturing.
