Light Tight
Terbium Foil (Light Tight) is a foil product within Goodfellow's range. Terbium has a silvery-white lustre and is soft, malleable and ductile. Its key properties include a high magnetic moment, high thermal neutron absorption cross-section and it becomes superconductive below 1.8 K. Terbium foil finds use in magnetostrictive alloys and as a control rod material in nuclear reactors, where its ability to strongly absorb thermal neutrons allows it to regulate fission. The light-tight version blocks transmission of light, making it suitable for applications that require shielding from light.
