Vacuum science applications may benefit from using Kapton®, available in easy-to-use tape form for insulating electrical components in vacuum chambers.

Where there are high heat loads or parts that need to be machined, a glass ceramic material Macor® may be an appropriate choice.

Macor® offers excellent thermal stability and very low outgassing.

These are non-porous, self-lubricating and lightweight materials that offer excellent thermal shock resistance.

Such films, foils and sheets can be used as gasket materials, heat exchanger blocks, and in X-Ray applications as a Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite (HOPG) variant of the material offers outstanding X-Ray and neutron diffraction, making it an ideal sample for testing and set-up.
