Aluminum/Silicon Alloy Foil (Light Tight) (Al88/Si12) is a new foil product from Goodfellow's extensive range of foils. This alloy foil combines the low density and excellent corrosion resistance of aluminum with the improved strength and hardness provided by the silicon. With only 12% silicon content, the foil retains aluminum's excellent ductility while gaining improved mechanical properties. Key applications of this light tight foil include packaging for photosensitive materials, barrier layers in multi-layer insulation, and substrates requiring moderate hardness and strength.
