Goodfellow and Royal Society of Chemistry publish Nanoparticles research paper

Goodfellow is proud to announce that our very own technical manager, Dr Aphrodite Tomou has co-authoured this research project, published in the Royal Society of Chemistry, Journals of #Material #Chemistry B. ⚗️ Which has also been selected for the cover of this months journal.

The research investigates magnetic iron oxide #nanoparticles (Fe3O4) on LAPONITE® #nanodiscs, testing compatibility as mediators of heat for localized #magnetic #hyperthermia and as contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging agents. This magnetic system has demonstrated excellent #biocompatibility, generation of the #MRI contrast, and has been proven as an excellent candidate for magnetic hyperthermia.

This paper explores MRI imaging as the first application that this magnetic system has been used for. During the MRI procedure, a contrast medium is being injected to the body to enhance the image quality and help the radiologist to diagnose more accurately.

This paper, written by Georgia Basina, George Diamantopoulos, Eamonn Devlin, Vassilis Psycharis, Saeed AlhassanMichael PissasGeorge HadjipanayisAphrodite TomouAlexandros BourasCostas Hadjipanayis, and Vasilis Tzitzios, is a fantastic achievement for #Goodfellow#Dr Aphrodite Tomou, and all those involved.
