  • The Bureau of Analysed Samples (BAS) adds certified reference materials (CRM) and advanced analytical testing to Goodfellow’s growing portfolio.

These acquisitions expand Goodfellow’s portfolio to over 170,000 materials, backed by end-to-end services ranging from material supply and customisation to certification, fabrication, and full analytical testing.

Your role:

As a member of the operations team, you'll help manage the flow of materials, keeping inventory organised and accurate. The work involves collaborating with warehouse and sales teams to ensure a smooth and efficient process. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented person who enjoys a hands-on role in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities – Specific to Stock Control:

  • Ensure effective inventory control and accuracy to support the aims of the business in terms of quality, cost, speed, dependability, flexibility
  • Delivery of a robust cycle counting process, delivering in line with customer experience metrics and financial audit requirements - conduct physical counts, analysis and rectification of cycle count data, reconciliation with management system
  • Maintain accurate stock records
  • Physical stock management and accurately maintaining reconciliation with inventory management systems
  • Proactively look for process improvements with a methodical and consistent approach
  • Deliver strong stock controls to assist in the efficient movement and management of stock
  • Taking responsibility and ownership in problem investigation and resolution
  • Liaise with internal customers and stakeholders in a timely way to manage any issues
  • Any other responsibilities for the necessary fulfilment of the role

Key Responsibilities – Operations Team Member:

  • Keep the work environment safe and tidy.
  • Ensure that all tasks are performed to the required standard and quality to meet both internal and external customer requirements.
  • Update stock quantities via internal stock management systems.
  • Check and confirm order details.
  • Maintain and store stock to a safe and accurate standard.
  • Work flexibly within the team to meet operational and customer needs, including carrying out tasks as requested.
  • Document processes and procedures for new and revised product designs.
  • Identify and communicate process improvement opportunities to support standardisation, cost reduction, shorter cycle times, and improved safety.
  • Set up and operate equipment to produce products that meet customer specifications.
  • Test and inspect parts against requirements.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.

Skills, knowledge and attitudes required:

Preferred experience:

  • Inventory knowledge and experience
  • Technical knowledge gained from a similar engineering / material supply business is preferable, but not essential.

Essential:

Working Hours & Compensation:

This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week worked at agreed times between 8:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

Salary: £26,270 p.a. Production operates a Skills Award Framework where Operations Team Members can be trained in additional functions to their core role, which will attract an enhancement to their basic salary.

Plus: company healthcare, company pension (5% company contribution), company sick pay, critical illness cover and life assurance cover, 22 days annual leave, rising to 25. 

In addition, there is free car parking, free tea and coffee and social events during the year.
