MACOR® Machinable Glass Ceramic Bar

MACOR® Machinable Glass Ceramic Bar is a unique fluorophlogopite-based glass ceramic offering a rare combination of machinability, electrical insulation, and high-temperature performance. Its microstructure resists crack propagation, enabling shaping with standard metalworking tools while maintaining excellent dielectric properties and dimensional stability up to ~1000 °C. These attributes make it highly useful in aerospace, vacuum technology, and electronic packaging. Specific technologies benefiting from MACOR® bars include precision-engineered feedthroughs and electrical insulators in vacuum systems, micro-milled biomedical implants requiring both strength and biocompatibility, and prototype components for high-frequency electronic devices.
