Flexible Graphite Carbon Foil

Flexible Graphite Carbon Foil is a robust, compressible, and thermally conductive sheet made from compressed exfoliated graphite. Unlike films derived from nanosheets, this material is formed via high-temperature expansion and mechanical rolling, giving it a layered, planar morphology with excellent mechanical flexibility. It offers high in-plane thermal conductivity, low permeability to gases, and outstanding chemical resistance, making it indispensable in thermal interface materials, EMI shielding gaskets, and high-vacuum seals. Key applications include battery heat spreaders, graphite-based gasketing for nuclear and aerospace systems, and electrode supports in electrochemical cells. Its performance in thermal dissipation and electromagnetic attenuation makes it ideal for high-reliability electronics and precision optics. The material’s resilience under compression, low outgassing rate, and compatibility with harsh environments have driven its adoption in space instrumentation and cleanroom sealing. Ongoing research explores hybridization for improved thermal cycling resistance and multifunctional structural uses.
