AISI 347 Stainless Steel Spooled Wire
AISI 347 Stainless Steel Spooled Wire is a niobium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel wire recognized for its excellent high-temperature strength, resistance to intergranular corrosion, and superior weldability. The addition of niobium prevents carbide precipitation during welding and thermal exposure, improving long-term stability in cyclic thermal conditions. In spooled wire form, it is widely used in welding consumables, automotive exhaust systems, and aerospace structural assemblies requiring both corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance. Specific applications include flux-cored welding for thin plate fabrication, critical joining in chemical process equipment, and high-integrity welds in turbine assemblies. In research, AISI 347 spooled wire is investigated for reducing hexavalent chromium emissions in welding, optimizing flux formulations for arc stability, and enhancing corrosion resistance through post-weld heat treatments. Its balance of metallurgical stability, weldability, and environmental compliance makes it a preferred choice for advanced industrial and scientific joining applications.
