8079 Aluminum Foil/Sheet

8079 Aluminum Foil is an iron-modified aluminum alloy in thin flat sheet form, available in Soft Annealed and Hard tempers, combining excellent formability with a very low pinhole rate at fine gauges and the flexibility to serve both highly formable and mechanically stiffer applications. The iron content of 0.7-1.3% provides better strength than commercially pure aluminum while retaining the rollability and ductility needed for very fine gauge production. In the Soft Annealed condition, it provides maximum formability for household cooking foil, flexible laminate packaging, and food contact applications where the foil must fold and seal readily without cracking; the Hard temper delivers the higher stiffness and strength required for cold-form pharmaceutical blister packaging, where the foil is pressed into cavities at room temperature without heat and must retain its formed shape against springback. In industry, 8079 foil is a primary material for household aluminum foil, flexible barrier packaging laminates, and cold-form Alu-Alu pharmaceutical blister packs. In research, it is used for formability characterization, barrier coating adhesion studies, and comparative investigations of aluminum foil alloy behavior under cold-forming conditions.
