8011 Aluminum Foil/Sheet

8011 Aluminum Foil is an iron-silicon-modified aluminum alloy in thin flat sheet form, supplied in the Soft Annealed temper, combining good formability with low pinhole rates and reliable barrier performance across pharmaceutical, food contact, and thermal management applications. The iron content of 0.6-1.0% and silicon at 0.7% deliver meaningfully higher strength and elevated temperature stability than commercially pure 1xxx series foils while retaining the rollability needed for very fine gauge production without pinhole formation. In industry, 8011 foil is the established material for air-to-air heat exchanger fin stock, where its thermal conductivity, surface wettability, and compatibility with brazing and fin-pressing operations make it the standard industrial choice. In pharmaceutical packaging, it is the standard material for blister pack lidding and medicinal strip foil, where pinhole freedom, low gas permeability, and compatibility with polymer heat-seal coatings are mandatory requirements; it is equally used for food contact flexible laminates and cold chain insulation packaging. In research, soft annealed 8011 foil serves as a model material for surface wettability and frost formation studies on aluminum heat exchanger surfaces, for formability characterization including Erichsen cupping trials, and for electrochemical corrosion investigations of iron-modified aluminum alloy systems.
