6013 Aluminum Disk

6013 Aluminum Disk is a medium-strength aluminum-magnesium-silicon-copper alloy in precision circular geometry, developed specifically for aerospace applications, available in the As Rolled temper and combining superior corrosion resistance, virtual immunity to stress corrosion cracking and exfoliation, and good formability with a yield strength approximately 12% above Alclad 2024. The As Rolled condition provides ductility for forming operations, and the formed component can subsequently be aged to higher strength without re-annealing, a significant process advantage in manufacturing cycles requiring both forming and strengthening. In industry, 6013 disks are used as blanks for precision-machined aerospace structural circular components, engine cowling blanks, and formed disk-geometry parts in primary aircraft structures. In research, they provide well-defined circular specimens for stress corrosion cracking resistance testing, forming limit characterization, comparative corrosion behavior studies versus 2xxx series alloys, ageing response and precipitation kinetics investigations in the as-rolled starting condition, and fatigue specimen preparation where the excellent corrosion resistance of the alloy eliminates surface protection variables from comparative tests.
