Sílice is the most abundant mineral in the Earth’s crust. Silica is manufactured in several forms including fused quartz, crystal, fumed silica and fused silica.

Quartz glass is an extremely versatile material used in a range of different applications. It has outstanding thermal properties, excellent optical transmission characteristics, good electrical properties and corrosion resistance.

Sílice-Quartz glass can be produced in two basic ways, by melting silica grains either by gas or electrical heating or by synthesising the glass from chemicals. The synthetic material, normally referred to as synthetic fused silica, has better optical properties and is somewhat more expensive than the other type.
