AISI 310H Stainless Steel Rod

AISI 310H Stainless Steel Rod (UNS S31009) is the high-carbon variant of the 310 alloy family, specifically optimised for maximum creep strength and stress-rupture performance under sustained elevated-temperature loading. Its carbon content, controlled to a minimum of 0.04 wt% and a maximum of 0.10 wt%, provides a deliberate carbide strengthening contribution that enhances high-temperature load-bearing capacity beyond that of standard 310 and 310S, making it the preferred selection for structurally demanding furnace and pressure vessel applications. With 24–26% chromium and 19–22% nickel, it maintains the outstanding oxidation resistance and scale stability of the 310 family to approximately 1100 °C. Weldable by standard austenitic fusion processes with sensitisation awareness, and solution annealable at 1120–1175 °C. Typical applications include superheater tubes, boiler components, cracking furnace internals, and load-bearing fixtures subject to prolonged high-temperature stress. In research, it is used for creep, stress-rupture, and high-temperature microstructural stability studies where controlled carbon content is an experimental variable.
