8011 Aluminium Coil is an iron-silicon-modified aluminium alloy in continuous strip format, supplied in the Soft Annealed temper, providing the uninterrupted supply needed for high-throughput roll-to-roll processing of foil packaging, heat exchanger fin stock, and flexible laminate structures. The Soft Annealed condition delivers maximum formability and ductility, which is the operationally required condition for continuous fin pressing, laminating, and coating operations where the material is drawn, stretched, or formed in-process. In industry, 8011 coil is used for roll-to-roll production of heat exchanger fin blanks in air-conditioning and automotive cooling systems, continuous pharmaceutical blister strip laminating and lacquering lines, food contact flexible packaging laminate production, and cold chain insulation packaging where aluminium foil provides the thermal barrier layer. In research, coil format material supports scalable formability and rollability investigations, roll-to-roll thin film deposition studies, and systematic characterisation of how annealing parameters influence pinhole rate and gas barrier performance in iron-modified aluminium foil alloys.

Key Features

Al 1050 Aluminium Coil is a commercially pure 1xxx series coil with a minimum aluminium content of 99.5%, supplied in a continuous-feed reel format. Its low total alloying element content preserves high conductivity relative to higher-alloyed grades, while the coil geometry enables uninterrupted roll-to-roll processing:

Electrical & Thermal Conductivity (~57–59% IACS, ~218 W/m·K)

Low total Fe+Si content minimises solid-solution electron scattering, yielding electrical conductivity of ~57–59% IACS and thermal conductivity of ~218 W/m·K — higher than 1200 but below 1070 and 1199, reflecting the balance between purity and cost in the standard commercial 1xxx grade.

Continuous-Feed Reel Format

The coil format provides uninterrupted material feed without the joins or batch boundaries inherent to sheet-form supply — enabling roll-to-roll lamination, coating, and electrode fabrication without interruption.

High Ductility & Low Flow Stress

High ductility and low flow stress support continuous slitting, winding, and lamination with low tooling wear.

Naturally Passivating Oxide Layer

The self-limiting Al₂O₃ surface layer provides corrosion resistance without surface treatment, stable across the full coil length and through all temper conditions.

Moderate Strengthening from Fe+Si Content

Small Fe+Si additions provide marginally improved mechanical strength and work-hardening response compared to higher-purity 1xxx grades, without alloy additions that would degrade conductivity.

Industrial Applications

Al 1050 Aluminium Coil is used in continuous and roll-to-roll processing across energy storage, electronics, HVAC, and industrial manufacturing — where conductivity, formability, and strip geometry consistency across long coil lengths are the primary drivers:

Continuous Lamination & Thermal Barrier Laminates
Consistent strip geometry and corrosion resistance across the full coil length support continuous lamination lines and thermal barrier laminate production where sheet-form supply would introduce batch boundaries incompatible with continuous operation.
Cable Shielding Wraps & HVAC Duct Facing
High-volume throughput, reliable barrier performance, and the formability of 1050 make this grade the standard choice for cable shielding wrap and HVAC duct facing in continuous processing environments.
Transformer Winding & Capacitor Electrode Slitting
Conductivity of ~57–59% IACS and dimensional consistency across a coil reduce ohmic losses in transformer windings and capacitance variation across a batch of capacitor electrodes produced by continuous slitting.
Roll-to-Roll Anodisation
1050's surface quality and anodisation response support roll-to-roll anodisation for architectural and functional oxide coatings where standard industrial finish quality is required across extended coil lengths.
Thermomechanical Processing & Conductivity Research
Al 1050 is a widely used reference alloy for studying the effects of cold rolling and annealing on electrical conductivity in the 1xxx series, where its well-characterised composition provides a reproducible experimental baseline.
