Product Summary of Zinc
Although known to the Greeks and Romans as an element in brass, metallic zinc was not discovered until the 16th century. It is a somewhat brittle metal and is rarely used on its own, with the exception of galvanic coating on steel to prevent corrosion. However, it is an important element in alloys such as brass and when alloyed with aluminium, copper and magnesium.
