Product Summary of MACOR® glass ceramic

Traditional machinable ceramics usually require diamond grinding once they have been fired, which can be costly. MACOR® ceramic offers a potentially lower cost, modern solution to this problem.

Comprised of 45% borosilicate glass and 55% fluorophlogopite mica, Corning’s MACOR® ceramic is ideal for machining into high-precision components. With the pliability of a soft metal, MACOR® is easily machined using ordinary metalworking tools. MACOR® glass ceramic does not require any post-firing – optimising the manufacturing process and reducing production costs.

    Key properties of MACOR® ceramic

    • Maximum use temperature of 1000°C
    • Strong and rigid
    • Good electrical and thermal insulation
    • Zero porosity
    • Radiation resistant
    • Low thermal conductivity
    • Can be highly polished

    We're an approved MACOR® supplier

Our comprehensive range of MACOR® glass ceramic spans three forms: MACOR® rods, MACOR® bars, and MACOR® sheets. We're also able to create complex MACOR® components to your specifications, machined to tolerances as small as +/-0.02mm.
