Product Summary of Nichrome®
A non magnetic alloy of nickel and chrome primarily used as a resistance heating wire. The commonly supplied alloy usually contains 80% nickel and 20% chrome by weight, although many other variations on the basic formulation are available for different applications. Due to its relatively high electrical resistivity and resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures it is widely used as a heating element in electric ovens, toasters and hair dryers.
Characteristics of Nichrome® include:
- High electrical resistivity
- Corrosion resistance
- Non-magnetic
