AISI 410S Stainless Steel Foil is a low-carbon ferritic stainless steel (Fe/Cr 12) offering improved weldability and reduced hardening tendencies compared to the standard AISI 410 martensitic grade. The low carbon content inhibits the formation of a martensitic phase during welding, resulting in reduced residual stress and superior toughness in welded assemblies. The foil provides moderate corrosion resistance in mild environments, good oxidation resistance to approximately 700°C, high thermal conductivity, and low thermal expansion. It is used in heat exchanger plates, quench tank liners, furnace door seals, and pressure vessel cladding. In laboratory and research contexts, it is applied as a magnetic test substrate, thermomechanical fatigue specimen material, and flexible structural lining in small-scale reactor prototypes.
