Platinum Classic Crucible with Lid (99.99% purity) pairs the standard tapered platinum crucible with a matching platinum lid, providing sample containment during heating for applications where volatile loss, dust, or sample scatter during thermal treatment would compromise the result. Available across the full classic range from OD 26 mm to OD 68 mm, it is the standard configuration for Loss on Ignition testing, volatile matter determination, and residue on ignition analysis under European Pharmacopoeia and USP gravimetric methods, where the lid controls airflow and prevents external contamination of the sample during the ignition cycle. The lid is not permanently sealed, allowing gas exchange as required, but significantly reduces sample loss during heating and cooling. Both crucible and lid are manufactured from 99.99% pure platinum to ensure that the containment system as a whole contributes no contamination to the measurement. Goodfellow supplies crucible and lid as a matched set with full material certification and traceability documentation for regulated laboratory environments.
