Platinum Classic Crucible (99.99% purity) is the standard vessel for high-temperature analytical and synthesis work requiring complete chemical inertness throughout the heating cycle. With a traditional tapered geometry available from OD 26 mm to OD 68 mm across a range of heights, it covers the full span from routine gravimetric analysis through to preparative synthesis and glass manufacturing applications. Its 99.99% pure platinum construction ensures no contamination of the sample or melt across repeated heating cycles, making it the required vessel for Loss on Ignition testing at 900–1100°C, XRF and ICP sample fusion in lithium borate flux, ash determination under European Pharmacopoeia and USP gravimetric methods, and calcination of inorganic compounds and catalyst precursors. Platinum's chemical passivity against strong alkalis, molten fluxes, and aggressive reagents that attacks borosilicate glass and most ceramics makes it the only viable containment material for a number of these processes. At end of service life, the crucible retains full material value as recoverable platinum, making the total cost of ownership substantially more favourable than ceramic or glass alternatives when reclamation is factored in.
