Grade 7 Titanium Rod

Grade 7 Titanium Rod (UNS R52400) is a palladium-modified commercially pure titanium rod recognised as one of the most corrosion-resistant titanium alloys in industrial service, offering substantially improved protection against crevice corrosion and reducing acid attack compared with standard unalloyed grades. The palladium content (0.12–0.25 wt%) stabilises and extends the passive titanium oxide film, enabling reliable performance in aggressive acidic, chloride-containing, and marine environments where unalloyed titanium would be marginal or unsuitable. With a tensile strength of 345 MPa, yield strength of 275 MPa, and elongation of 20%, it balances adequate mechanical performance with excellent ductility and full weldability via GTAW/TIG processes. Supplied to ASTM B348, it is widely deployed in chemical plant piping and vessels, acidic process equipment, marine heat exchangers, and corrosion-critical hardware. In research, Grade 7 rod is a benchmark material for electrochemical corrosion investigations, acid immersion testing, and comparative studies of noble-metal-alloyed titanium systems across a range of reducing and oxidising service conditions.
