3103 Aluminum Disk

3103 Aluminum Disk is a manganese-modified aluminum alloy in precision circular geometry, containing 0.9-1.5% manganese, available in the As Rolled temper and combining excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance with good formability and better mechanical properties than commercially pure 1xxx aluminum. The disk format provides a ready-to-use circular geometry suited to forming trials, standardised corrosion specimens, and weldability studies. In the As Rolled condition, the material provides consistent and reproducible mechanical and microstructural starting state for comparative laboratory studies. In industry, 3103 disks are used as blanks for deep-drawn and spun components in heat exchanger, kitchen appliance, and architectural cladding applications, as well as quality control specimens for incoming material assessment in forming-intensive production lines. In research, they serve as specimens for Erichsen cupping tests, corrosion immersion and electrochemical characterization studies, weldability and heat-affected zone property assessment, and fundamental investigations of how manganese addition affects recrystallization and grain boundary character in aluminum sheet, where the well-characterized As Rolled starting condition supports reproducible experimental comparison.
