Product Summary of Manganin®
This alloy comprising mostly copper (85%) along with manganese (12%) and nickel (2%) was first developed in 1892. In the form of foil and wire it is used in the manufacture of resistors due to its virtually zero temperature coefficient of resistance value and long term stability. Manganin wire has also seen use as an electrical conductor in cryogenic systems, minimizing heat transfer between points which need electrical connections.
